Small video about the concept of readability. Will our eyes adapt to screen or return to paper... or both!? Without any doubt, due to the huge amounts of information that this technique will be of great use.

The hi-fi system on NAD/ Design Cafe is a little bit shy, but in November one can find there my dear playlist (it's a fact, it was set with much care).

What can you hope from someone who on his 10 years of age listened to Ted Nugent, Black Sabbath, Motorhead on his first tape...?

Fortunately, tastes change... or I would have to give away some cotton to put on our customers ears,

It's a set of 52 tracks. There are some hard-rock classics as Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, AC/DC and Aerosmith, besides other alternative-punk-rock sound which goes from Ramones, Gene Loves Jezebel to the actual Kaiser Chiefs; in a more pop-new-wave-alternative style,  I remember names as Midnight Oil, Inxs and the surprising Ladyhawke.

It's also good to remember old classics and guitar heroes as Johnny Cash, The Who, The Birds, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton and the virtuous Jeff Healey.

The playlist comes basically from the common roots of blues and soul, therefore the pleasant presence of Ben Harper and Tracy Chapman.

There is also a short walk through the ethnic-spiritual sound of Chambao, Phil Keaggy  and the progressive rock of Yes and Marillion.

U2 and Queen might be missing, but you easily tune them on the radio.

Where good ideas come from? Take a look at Steven Johnson theory! Its original way to explain the concept is an awesome strategy of promotion to his book.

The anxious journey of a brainstorming!? NOT!

The ideas of Andrew Shore (architect), Nuno Veiga (designer) and João Paulo Henriques (planning director) and the path to a brainstorming about the Design Center activities.

Wednesday, September the 27th at 18.00 PM at NAD Design Café.

He - a supposed creative - took refuge in a room searching the key to his problem. Through the windows he saw birds, then put on Muse latest album, played two hours of Playstation and gave a few strokes with a brush in a painting with a clear experimentalist and abstract vein.

The solution and the crazy ideas did not come. In an existential attitude, he - a supposed creative - screamed... Whyyyy!?... And the solution did not come.

Recently we had the pleasure to develop a campaign for Movicel with the presence of Jean Jacques, former star player of Angola basketball team and of SL Benfica (Portugal).

It's a wish of support, hope, success, trust, given by Movicel to Angola national basketball team as its official sponsor.

"Vamos dar que falar", closely "We will be heard", was the concept and claim given to the campaign. One can see here the spot and some images. You could also cheer for Angola during the World Basketball Championship which is taking place in Turkey, from August 28th to September 12.

We are inviting all of those who are in or nearby Évora to come and visit our recently opened NAD/ Design Cafe. We are located in Praça do Sertório near the Town Hall.

NAD/ Design Cafe has as its goals creating a good cafeteria service and a meeting point for NAD working team. We are also open to partners, friends and public in general.

Besides its distinct and cozy environment, NAD/ Design Cafe will have a very diversified calendar of activities developed by NAD workers or by its guests.  Therefore,  one can find here open talks, lectures, projections, live music, among other events.

According to the portuguese newspaper Público, Chinese and Portuguese were the languages who grew more in the Internet between 2000 and 2005.  Portuguese is now the seventh place of the most used languages in the Internet.

The article is based on the study English Next, by David Graddol, over the future of the English language. According to this author, the use of the English language is now in decrease and languages like Chinese, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese are growing on its level of importance.

The Design Center's blog is a project of innovation and development. Here we will gather knowledge of different origins wich will be posted by NAD workers. The main idea with this blog is to promote Design as a conceptual and multifaceted discipline on its business and artistic environment.

This is also a place to post commnents, work, book and article suggestions, videos and all that makes sense in the comprehension of Arts and disciplnes around Design.

For now, we leave a message to our blog visitors... Come back soon!
