In a near future, packaging will be connected to eCoupled. This is a low-cost enhancement to product packaging and it has a wireless power integrated into the packaging. It also allows the consumer and supplier to see all the informations related to the product (product quantities, expiration dates, stocks). People will automatically have an up-to-date grocery list at them fingertips the next time they're out shopping.

With a life path full of experiences, adventures and miles traveled, Aurélio Fernando Alves collected through his life a wide collection of small objects.

Born in 1913 in Porto, Aurélio left us a set of unconventional collections, that grew up - in size and in number -  throughout the last century.

Since today we can see a little part of these pieces exposed in NAD/ Design Café. A selection of several shaving blades packages, with different sizes, roots, targets and design, and also some lighters that could easily be part of the wish list of the most dedicated collector.

To see and enjoy at NAD/ Design Café.

Product packages are often the design equivalent of having a hammer driven into your eyeballs. Buzzword-y text everywhere, disgusting color overload, and corny cartoon mascots. So why not strip it all away and let the product's name speak for itself?

Design firm A2591 took popular products and gave them a minimalist transformation. Each item gets two version—one with some of the orignal's elements left over, and  a radically stark iteration with pretty much nothing but the name. Beautiful typography. Simple, popping colors.

All of them became much better. Less is more.

I think the transformations are good, nevertheless, for commercial purposes, the designs wouldn't work as well as the original, because on some of them the consumer won't be attracted to buy. However, the minimalist design for Red Bull is great, much better than the original.

Excelente conceito .. algumas transformações extremamente radicais mas na sua grande maioria está provado que são mais apelativas.

TASTY PACKAGING - Food Design

NAD/  Design Café will be the meeting point of three projects with its roots in Alentejo that have launched regional products in the light of contemporary design.

Wednesday, November the 10th at 6.30 PM at NAD/ Design Café.

The people in charge of these projects are António Policarpo and Inês Varejão, a graphic designer and an agricultural engineer, from the company Boa Boca Gourmet and winner of three Red Dot Design Awards; Daniel Roldão, marketing director from the company Fábrica de Rebuçados de Portalegre and Rita Soares, administrator of the winery and country house, Herdade Nova da Malhadinha.

Wine, 100% organic biscuits, liquors, coffee, chocolates, candies hand made from old traditional recipes and techniques gained in the recent years a new look. They evolved from simple tasty products into objects of desire.

Food design is the concept to be tasted on this Open Talk Gourmet.

Should food be faced only as an object waiting sadly on a supermarket shelf to be picked? Or should it communicate and persuade us to have a delicious new experience, through more artistic, functional and ergonomic packaging design? > Come and taste with us an Open Talk Gourmet!

As an amateur musician that never wanted to go pro, I still feel the problems of the music industry. The simple CD format isn't appealing enough anymore, and musicians need to find different ways to sell their music

Some of the ways seen in the market are, releasing in mp3, and then producing a special edition in vinyl, or releasing the album with a book of another author creating like a soundtrack for the reading, or with a more visual/multimedia content.

1-Bit Symphony is the musical project of Tristan Perich, where his idea was to package his music with the core instruments/hardware that is used to create it. Giving an analog, visual experience to the listener.

It's interesting for me to see a electronic musician going analog and all the main analog musicians like pianists releasing their music in CD/digital.It would be fun to open a pianist album and see real strings and hammers playing alone.

I found today, at a "must see everyday" website (Graphic-ExchanGE), this simple, almost basic, layout, that I really like.

I'd like this was mine...

This is a LoSiento design.

Tipografia e mancha de cor... A simplicidade fala por si, e neste caso fala muito bem. É mais um exemplo de que o suporte e a técnica de produção são essenciais na concepção do desenvolvimento criativo de um designer gráfico. O "packaging" faz todo o sentido lembra-me as caixas VHS.
